Handsets
- Can I use my own handset with HanaCell SIM card?
If you bought your handset from AT&T, HanaCell SIM card will most likely work with your handset. If you know you have a SIM unlocked handset, you will need to check that your handset supports both GSM 850/ 1900MHz. Please note that HanaCell SIM card is not compatible with iPhone, Blackberry, some LG and Samsung handsets. You can check Handset compatibility here.
- Is there a way to check whether HanaCell SIM card is compatible with my handset?
Yes, you can ask a friend who owns an AT&T phone for their SIM card. Simply insert the AT&T SIM card into your phone and see if your phone shows network coverage. Alternatively, you can purchase a test SIM card. With the test SIM card, you can place a call to our customer support line on 888-634-8226 free of charge.
Using your HanaCell phone
- Do I need to activate my number?
No, your number will be ready to use when you receive the phone.
- My call won't connect...help me!
Are you dialling correctly? To call a US number, dial the area code, then the rest of the number. (Ten digits number)
If you are still having difficulty placing your call, try dialling 1 then the area code and the rest of the number OR +1 and then the area code and the rest of the number. If you are still unable to make a call, please contact us. Don't forget to email us your number! - Can I call abroad?
Yes, you can! Simply dial +1 then the country code, then the rest of the number. (You would normally omit the 0 of the phone number). Your international calls are rated at $2.00/min (except for Japan which is rated at $0.50/minute)
- Can I use my phone anywhere in the US and will I pay roaming charges?
Yes, you can use your phone in AT&T's nationwide coverage area. With HanaCell you will not be charged roaming fees when you travel out of your home area. You are charged the same rates anywhere you go!
- I forgot my PIN. What shall I do?
If you have changed your PIN number from the standard 1111 setting and you have subsequently forgotten it, we recommend that you contact us for your PUK code so that you can reset your PIN code.
Once we have notified you of the PUK code you should enter the SIM PIN incorrectly 3 times. After the SIM PIN has been entered incorrectly 3 times you will be asked for the PUK code. Enter the PUK code and you will be asked to enter a new SIM PIN. - Can I use calling cards on my phone?
We do not recommend the use of calling cards with our phones. You will probably be aware that it is common practice for cell phone networks to charge for toll free numbers, so the toll free number on the calling card will not be toll free from the HanaCell phone. You will be charged at the rate of a cost of a call to the country where the toll free number is based as advertised. This would mean that you would be charged twice for the calls. We would bill you for the call on the phone and the calling card company would charge you for the use of the calling card.
Charges
- How many minutes do I get with $9.99.
Your FREE calls are based on your call charges and not on your minutes used. All of your calls will be rated as stated in our website (anywhere in the US $0.25/min, SMS receiving/sending $0.15/message). We then deduct $9.99 from your total call spend once a month.
- How much to call out-of-state?
All calls to anywhere in the US wherever you are, are $0.25/minute.
- Do I pay for receiving calls? What about receiving text messages?
Yes, you will pay $0.25/minute for receiving calls and $0.15/message for receiving text messages.
- Are toll-free numbers free of charge from my cell phone?
No, toll-free will be rated at $0.25/minute.
- Exactly what are the costs involved with a HanaCell phone?
The basic costs of the phone are;
* Shipping at the rates advertised
* The purchase price of the phone
* Theft and loss protection plan, if you choose to purchase it.After this all you pay is $9.99 per month.
You pay your total call spend minus $9.99 free calls.There are absolutely no hidden charges!
There are no taxes on the call charges!

There are no roaming fees!The phone is delivered pre-activated, so there is no activation fee!

- There is a charge on my credit card what is this for?
Charges from HanaCell will always appear on your card with the reference; Mobell Communications Ltd. This is our parent company name. Our transactions take place at Mobell which is located in the UK. Please note that your bank may query this with you as foreign transactions.
We do not charge you for every call individually, mainly because this will clutter your credit card statement with several different charges. Instead, we charge every month or every $100 worth of call time used. - There is a charge on my credit card for International transaction. What is this?
This is a charge debited by your credit card company for transactions made outside of the USA. We are not responsible for this charge so please contact your credit card company for more details.
- What are the charges to call HanaCell to HanaCell phones?
You will be dialing to a US number when calling another HanaCell phone so you will pay $0.25/min. The HanaCell phone you are calling to will be charged for an incoming call at the appropriate incoming call rate.
- I have not received a bill for usage in the post. Why?
We send your credit card statement and itemized call listing by email within 7 days of your transactions taking place.
- Is there a termination fee?
No, we do not charge termination fees. Please note that we will not be able to refund/prorate your monthly fee if you terminate before the end of your monthly cycle.
Number Portability
- Can I transfer my current number?
Yes, you can! Just tell us your account number and PIN code when you have received your HanaCell SIM card from us. Please keep your connection active until we contact you.
- How long will it take to transfer my number?
Normally within 24 hours. It may take longer if the account number/PIN is incorrect and we need to contact you for the correct nformation. Some providers also require that you contact them before releasing your number.
- Can I transfer my landline number onto HanaCell?
Yes, you can. You simply need to tell us your account number and PIN code when you have received the goods from us. Please keep your connection active until we contact you.
Delivery
- How do you deliver the cell phone?
We will deliver using FedEx. FedEx requires a signature on receipt. We do not deliver to PO Box or APO addresses. Our package will show “Moball Communications Inc”as the sender. Mobal is the US branch office of HanaCell's parent company Mobell Communications.
- What are the delivery times?
FedEx will delivery anytime between 9am and 5pm.
- How long will it take until I receive my phone?
We aim to deliver no later than 7 days after we have received your order. You can check your delivery status with Fedex's Track Shipments

- I received a FedEx notification of delivery. What do I need to do?
FedEx will try re-delivering 3 times before giving up. This is normally 3 consecutive business days. If you need to rearrange delivery date or address, please contact FedEx directly.
Protection Plan
- Is there an insurance policy for loss/theft of my handset?
Yes. HanaCell's comprehensive "All Risk Protection Plan" gives you peace of mind that you are covered if your phone is lost, stolen or damaged. Simply select the plan with "Theft and Loss Protection" in the shopping cart to claim your peace of mind.
Your insurance covers you for one year. You are able to renew your insurance at the end of the year.

- Does my All Risk Protection Plan expire?
Your protection plan will cover you for up to 12 months of usage. It will automatically renew itself on your anniversary. If you no longer wish to subsribe, please email us.
- Can I cancel my Protection plan?
We will give you a full refund if for whatever reason you are not 100% satisfied with our service and you wish to return the phone within our 60 days guarantee.
- How often can I claim?
Once you have made a claim, you will have the option to take up insurance again in order to be covered for a further 12 months.
- How do I make a claim?
You will need to contact us for a claims form. You will also need to sumbit a police report if your phone was stolen. It could take up to 3 days for us to assess your claim.
- I have 3 HanaCell phones. Does the protection plan cover me for all 3 phones?
The protection plan covers you for one line. You will need to take up protection plan per line to have all of your phones covered.
- Will you replace my lost phone with the same model of phone?
We will do our best to send you the same phone but if we are out of stock, you will get the nearest range of phone.
- Do I pay for delivery of my replacement phone?
No, we will pay your FedEx delivery charge for sending out a replacement phone.
